COVID-19 (CORONAVIRUS) UPDATE – Monday 30/03/2020 (9.30 am)

working remotelyLSDN had a successful first week of remote-working last week. We maintained contact with our students and partners and we successfully started online learning delivery across a number of our courses with further delivery taking place this week.

We aim to continue supporting all of our students with their studies and also with any welfare or wellbeing issues that may be affecting them. We are trying to actively maintain contact with all of our students, if you have not heard from us, please get in touch: 07823494687 or info@lsdn.org.uk.

This week we are also launching a programme of FREE extracurricular activities and learning for our students and FREE home learning tips and resources for families with children. We have provisions in place to continue as much of our day to day operations as possible, including supporting learners via e-learning and other available technologies. All staff are working from home and have access to emails and other means of communication.

Corona virusFollowing yesterday’s anouncement by the Prime Minister and Education Secretary regarding the closure of schools and educational premises, please be advised that in order to ensure the safety and wellbeing of staff, students, visitors and the wider community, LSDN will be closing its premises on Friday 20th March.

We have provisions in place to continue as much of our day to day operations as possible, including supporting learners via e-learning and other available technologies. All staff will be working from home and have access to emails and other means of communication. Students and partners can contact us via the usual numbers and email addresses. All members of the public can also reach LSDN staff and leadership at: info@lsdn.org.uk.

In closing, we wish to thank all of our staff, students, partners, governors and members of the community for their support of LSDN thoughout the years and especially over the last few days as we have all attempted to do our best to respond and work together in these unprecented times. LSDN will continue to do everything in its power to positively support the community, including releasing staff with social care and NHS credentials to undertake critical work at hospitals or in the community and putting together care packages for our students.

NOTIFICATION – Week Commencing 16/03/2020

You will all be aware of the continuing rapid spread of coronavirus. At LSDN, we are doing everything possible to avoid any disruptions to classes and our students.

We apologise in advance for any disruption you have or will experience due to staff absence or shortages. We are following Government advice and any staff with cold or flu-like symptoms are being asked to self-isolate for a minimum of 7 days. Some staff have also been advised not to attend work due to other health conditions. Please bear with us during this time.

We are putting a range of contingencies in place to maintain operations in the coming weeks. In the event of centre closure, we will maintain classes and support via online learning and other available technologies. Please ensure you complete our STUDENT EMERGENCY FORM available at reception so we can contact you in the event of an emergency or change of circumstances at LSDN.

In the meantime, we request all students aide by the following advice:

    • Wash hands thoroughly several times a day for a minimum of 20 seconds
    • Use hand sanitisers available throughout the centre and offices
    • Use tissues available throughout the centre and offices to catch any sneezes and dispose of it immediately
    • Ensure that we have an up to date contact number for you and that you have completed the emergency contact form
    • Finally, if you have a cough, cold or flu-like symptoms, please do NOT attend the centre, you will need to self-isolate for a minimum of 7 days – please remember to inform us so you are not penalised for non-attendance
